2008 Reading List

I kept track of this throughout 2008 on my Horror World message board (which I'm about to deep-six, by the way). The list isn't extensive. I work a full-time day job and in 2008 I wrote two full-length novels and several short stories. As you can see, between those things and other obligations, I couldn't possibly have a lot of spare reading time. But here's what I did read in 2008:

Great list Bryan!

I have a couple questions:

1) My 15 year-old son is learning the guitar, and is a fan of GNR - I always try and encourage him to read, and I almost bought him Slash's book - would it be appropriate for a 15-year-old to read?

2) Just curious as to your thoughts on Lee's Brides of the Impaler
[I enjoy Lee, however I was disappointed by this one] :-(

Also, I LOVE Laymon! [the un-cut The Woods Are Dark was Great - I thought - and I am looking forward to reading Cuts!]

Happy New Year to you and I have enjoyed reading your Blog!!

Hey, Bonebreaker. On the Slash book, it's hard to say, not having any kids myself. I do recall at least one or two (my memory on it's a bit fuzzy at this point--it was the first book I read in '08) slightly explicit descriptions of sexual situations. And then there's all sorts of accounts of Slash's drinking, drugging, and general bad juvenile behavior. I found the book very interesting, but, again, no idea what kind of call I'd make as a parent.

I liked Brides of the Impaler. It wasn't as explicit as some of his stuff, and isn't my favorite, but I liked it well enough. An old one by him, Coven, is my favorite.

Hey, Bryan. I wonder if you'd care to write about a forgotten book for my blog project. You can see it here: http://pattinase.blogspot.com
It's been going for eight months now.
I'm looking for reviews for January 23rd or 30th.

Bryan,

Thanks for the response.

About Slash - that is exactly what I was afraid of.
[I am tempted to get the book, to read myself, as I enjoy autobiographies as well]
As for my son - I do not feel that he is mature enough, at this point, to read that sort of material [he thinks its all cool already!] :-(

Also, thanks for the Lee recommendation! [I haven't read Coven - I will look that one up]

P.S. I am so looking forward to Depraved!

Thanks again Bryan!
