New novel: The Killing Kind

Announced this elsewhere yesterday, finally getting around to it here. Yesterday I sold my seventh novel, The Killing Kind, to Leisure Books. It will be out in 2010. Too soon to know the exact publication month. More specifics about this book in the months to come.

While you're waiting for that, Soultaker is in stores now and my next novel, Depraved, will be out later this year, in October.

In other news, the limited edition of House of Blood is shipping this week. I have an early copy and Thunderstorm did an amazing job on this book. Kick yourself if you missed out on this one.

I nuked my old Horror World message board a few weeks back. This one should be much more active. You do need to sign up for an account to view the board, though.

Famous Monsters Of Filmland on Soultaker

Pretty good review of Soultaker in Famous Monsters of Filmland. The guy isn't a fan of explicit sex and gore, so he had some problems with that, but overall it's a pretty good review. And, really, I'm pretty happy that someone who doesn't like that sort of thing somehow wound up coming away with an overall favorable opinion. To me, that's cool and a not inconsiderable accomplishment.

Gord Rollo on The Freakshow

Fellow horror author Gord Rollo, of the acclaimed Jigsaw Man, on my 2007 novel The Freakshow:

"Every now and then a book comes along that shocks the hell out of you and knocks you on your ass with it's sheer audacity, bizarre uniqueness, and the superb way it weaves multiple storylines together into a gruesomely satisfying ending. For me, that book was THE FREAKSHOW by Bryan Smith. Loved every word of it and couldn't put it down."
